Blueleaf: Operational Improvements Implementation

Background

Established care sector specialists Nursing Hygiene Group and Clinicare have recently merged together creating Blueleaf one of the largest care home suppliers within the UK. To ensure their logistics operations continued to deliver a seamless logistics operation, Blueleaf realised additional support was needed to oversee the merged operations.

Project

An assessment of the logistics implications of the recent growth and merger activity of Blueleaf by Davies & Robson Consultants concluded in recommendations to improve lead times, service levels and inventory requirements by altering the operating dynamics and capability at a local level in Blueleaf’s distribution sites.

Results

A Davies & Robson project manager was appointed to manage the implementation of the process, system and operational changes required, whilst maintaining current service levels. The completed changes included:

  • Set up of a new cross dock activity
  • Implementation of new business and operating processes
  • Set up of an extended warehouse facility
  • Migrate processes to a new ERP
  • The operations management of a satellite depot 
  • Training of new staff
