Moduleo: Relocation, site start Up & Systems Implementation

Background

Moduleo is part of the IVC Group founded in 1997 and is one of the global leaders in the manufacture of vinyl flooring. Their operation in the UK, based in the Midlands not far from the UK head office in Derby, supplies their wide range of products to the contractor and builders merchant markets.

The Company has been growing rapidly year on year and was ready to take the next step with their Supply Chain to meet the growth forecasts for the next 5 years and beyond. 

Project

Moduleo required a larger distribution facility to serve increased and future demand. Following a Davies & Robson consultancy project to identify the technical requirement, facility and optimum operational layout, an experienced Interim Manager was appointed to manage the relocation, site start up and systems implementation.

Challenge

  • Relocation from a 5k pallet facility in Leicester to 10k facility in near Derby
  • Shape decision making process to move to 3rd party shared user platform or move operations in house
  • Manage the staged process transfer and implementation plan between 3pl contactors
  • Manage the implementation and integration of JDA and SAP systems between site, European head office and 3rd party logistics contractor
  • Negotiate terms favourable terms for new operations contract

Results

Following an analysis of the operation a staged 6 week transition plan was developed and implemented. A successful relocation with a smooth systems implementation that maintained service levels throughout was achieved.
