Representing over 50 brands, this leading wholesaler of parts, accessories, apparel and nutritional products distributes to the UK sports equipment market. Following significant growth, a lack of working space put considerable pressure on the operation.

Project

Davies & Robson Consultants in Logistics were invited to determine the optimum design and working practice for the warehouse. Following an initial review of the operations and functionality of the WMS, we were appointed to implement the recommendations.

Challenge

A Davies & Robson interim manager was engaged to Project Manage the implementation of a new WMS. This included the broader operational and business impact: process management, operational management and people roles and structure.

Results

  • Successful implementation of WMS to plan
  • Set up effective stock management through warehouse mapping, system utilization, process definition and structural change
  • Implemented training workshops for process definition
  • Developed standard operating manuals and documentation throughout business
  • Recruitment, training and set up of stock control team, Ops Manager and Process / Quality Manager
