Following the migration to a new distribution centre, Davies & Robson logistics consultants helped evaluate and select a new WMS to facilitate the anticipated changes to distribution planning, customer delivery and service levels.
Reversing the order bank and scheduled replenishments, and halting automatic order releasing, a sample of trial orders were released to evaluate the process from a sound data footing.
By checking the information being made available to each functional manager in the supply chain and operation, and following orders through each stage and area of the process, the pinch points and areas improvement were identified.
Through improved KPIs, the provision of traffic light dashboard information for the relevant managers, dedicated supervisor training and more appropriate controls of orders the operation soon achieved one of the company’s best Order Fulfilment days in the previous 3-4 years, and a steady state for the first time post implementation.
